Zamami Island in Okinawa Winter trip, the second day.
We wake up early and will start on early morning whale watching.

I booked an early morning ship of the tour company “Diving team Anatano-Kyoshi” .

We will leave Zamami Port at 6 o’clock.

On the way to the open sea, the guide explained us the type and behavior of the whale at the picture-story show. Feelings are exciting for encountering whales.

The morning sun is appeared from the cloudy sky and it is fantastic.

I have heavymotion sickness. But Whale watching in Zamami Island is an efficient style that the watchmen in the observatory of the island to find whales. Although it relieved me,,,,

Only the early morning watching,  we leave at the same time as the watchman goes up to the observation deck, ….
Oh my god, … I had a motion sickness drug  just in case, but, I am super worried.

There is. Although I did not take pictures, I repeatedly could see the action that the whale tail appears on the surface of the water with a sound “Bashaaaan” after breathing. March is about the end of the season, whales are few. I only had one but this day it was nice to see it.

Because it comes up to the water surface to breathe every 15 to 20 minutes, once whale dive, it is a wait time.

The identity of the item was a submerged microphone called “whale phone”! I heard a whistling sound of a whale. It is a very valuable experience. There are individual differences, it seems that lyrics (?) And rhythms are different. Or maybe whales do mimic each other.

Whale watching end. I only met one, but I am satisfied. I want to see the active sexual activity of the high season.

By the way, because the sea was relatively calm, I did not become seasick. I’m glad. I used this famous sickness stopper.

Okinawa soba for lunch break

After returning port, I took a little rest and made early lunch.

The first floor of the inn “Island stay holoholo” that I was indebted to is a pub called “Umibata Shokudou” . The day section is open as Okinawa soba(noodle) store.

I ordered  “mozuku soba” knead a seaweed. And stewed pork and cartilage Soki (spareribs) for topping.

My wife ordered a beef and sprouts soba.

Local food “Okinawa soba”, it was delicious.

Furu-Zamami Beach

After lunch, we explored the inside of the island by renting bicycle.
I would like to mention that we can not recommend an ordinary rental bicycle (mama Chari) to play in Zamami Island .

Like the photo, Zamami Island is full of slopes except for the village. I almost moved pushing heavy bicycle(with crying). We recommend that you rent a moped bike or at least a motor-assisted bicycle.

For climbing was really hard, descent is refreshing.

We will head to the Furu-Zamami Beach beyond the eastern pass from the main settlement.

Go through the scenery like a tropical island.

Arrive at the Furu-Zamami beach.

At the end of March when we traveled, people are sparse because it is an off season before opening the sea. It seems that it can be relaxed.

It’s cloudy, but it’s clean and light blue.

 

I will enter the sea for a moment.

It is cold, but it is fresh and pleasant blue.

The sandy beach has been going on a long distance.

 

I thought if it was a gravel beach, it was a piece of clean white coral.

It can not be called Kerama Blue ,,,, but I will take in myself.

I went up to the observation deck near the shop (during closure). The change from a shallow part near the sandy beach to a deep blue where it got deep is splendid.

Near the observation deck, the cats settled down. Do tourists care for? They are cozy and friendly.

He got caught and lie on his back.

Ama Beach

Next, we will aim at the Ama Beach on the west side. It is a pleasant cycling on the road along the coast from the main settlement.

I arrived but … it is still cloudy.

It seems that it is suitable for diving and snorkeling in the shallow sea. Some people were dugging from the ship.

A little sun came out, beautiful coloring came into sight.

I entered sea, again here.

It is a beautiful gradation.

Here is a place where some grass grows on the sandy beach, it feels good for a nap.

Bicycle further from Ama Beach to the west about 15 minutes. We got to the Kaminohama observatory.

It was sunny little by little by the time to go to the observation deck. From the Kaminohama observatory , we can see the shallow waters of Aa beach.

We finally saw the long-awaited Kerama Blue!

Although cloudy / rainy weather forecast, we fulfill the purpose of seeing Kerama Blue, we flee.

There is a covered building on the Kaminohama observatory, so we were able to relax while looking at the beautiful blue. I should have brought canned beer too lol

It is a landscape that is difficult for us to leave.

A shallow sea like a mosaic picture

On the way back from the Kaminohama observatory to the inn, I tried descending from the embankment to the beach.

Beautiful blue and transparent.

Dark blue, light blue, sandy white, rocky black.
The shallow waters are like landscapes like mosaics.
